To automate Instagram posts, you schedule them ahead of time: you write the post, pick a date and time, and a tool publishes it for you. Meta’s own tools can do this, and so can third-party schedulers that connect through Meta’s official API. Ways to automate Instagram posts
- Meta’s own tools. Instagram and Meta Business Suite let you schedule posts yourself. Meta’s Help Center has the current steps and limits, and they change between app versions.
- A scheduling tool that uses Meta’s official API. You connect through Facebook’s login screen, the tool asks for publishing permission, and it posts for you at the time you set. These tools need an Instagram professional account (Business or Creator), the same account type VivaDialog needs to connect.

Media
In the post form you can upload a file or paste public links, one per line. Uploads take JPEG or PNG images up to 8 MB and MP4 or MOV videos up to 100 MB, and they count toward your workspace storage. Links must be public https links, and the platform downloads them at publish time. Instagram takes JPEG images only. An image, video, Reel, or Story takes exactly 1 file, and an album takes 2 to 10.
Repeating posts
Each post can be set to Don’t repeat, Every day, Every week, or Every month, with an Until date. The next copy is created when the current one goes out, up to 12 months ahead. TikTok posts do not repeat.
Time zone and calendar
Times are shown in your own time zone. The calendar shows one month at a time, and Show posts for narrows it to one account. A post has one of these statuses: Scheduled, Retrying, Publishing, Published, Failed, Cancelled, or Gave up. When posts fail, the page says how many didn’t go out, and you open one to read the error and choose Schedule again.
How many posts per month
Each plan has a monthly quota of scheduled posts. Every copy of a repeating post uses one, and cancelled posts still count that month.

Facebook Pages and agencies
An agency can put several clients’ Pages and Instagram accounts in one workspace. The plans allow 20 channels on Starter, 75 on Growth, and 200 on Pro and Premium, counted across every platform, and team members can be added to the same workspace. The Schedule calendar can be filtered by account, and the rules in this article apply to Facebook Pages in the same way as to Instagram.
