There is no single best Instagram DM automation tool; the right one depends on what you count and which channels you need. For comment-to-DM on a small budget, the flat-rate tools ReplyRush, LinkDM, InstantDM, and CreatorFlow offer free plans and high DM limits. For WhatsApp, TikTok, or SMS next to Instagram, ManyChat, respond.io, and Chatfuel cover more channels. For one flat price with AI replies and Threads in the same inbox as Instagram and Facebook, that is VivaDialog, the tool we make. This page lists all eight with prices from their official pricing pages and the date we checked each.
Once you pick a tool, the Instagram comment automation guide walks through the setup. For what the paid tools cost in total, see the cost comparison of ManyChat, respond.io, Chatfuel, and VivaDialog.
How we compared them
Prices and limits come from each tool’s own pricing page, checked in the year shown in the table, from the United States and in US dollars. Prices can depend on your country and change often. A cell that says “not listed” means we did not find it on the pricing page or help center we read. It does not mean the tool lacks it. Before you pay, check the linked page.
We make VivaDialog, so read our row with that in mind. We also say where each competitor fits better than we do.
The tools at a glance
| Tool | Cheapest paid plan | What the plan limits | Free plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| ManyChat (2026) | Essential: $14 a month billed yearly, $17 monthly | Active contacts: 250 | 25 contacts |
| respond.io (2026) | Starter: $99 a month billed monthly, $79 billed yearly | Users: 5 | No, 7-day trial |
| Chatfuel (2026) | Business: $20 a month billed monthly, $18 billed yearly | Unlimited contacts; AI use has a fair-use limit | Trial, no card |
| ReplyRush (2026) | Lite: $10 a month | 7,500 DMs a month | Yes, 1,500 DMs |
| LinkDM (2026) | Pro: $19 a month, $182 a year | 25,000 DMs a month | Yes, 1,000 DMs |
| InstantDM (2026) | Legend Pro: $12 a month, $9.99 billed yearly | No DM cap, up to 800 an hour | Yes, 500 automations a month |
| CreatorFlow (2026) | Pro: $15 a month, $12 billed yearly | 5,000 DMs a month | Yes, 500 DMs |
| VivaDialog (pricing) | Starter: $9 a month, $7.20 billed yearly | 500 conversations and 200 AI replies a month | No, a 14-day trial opens after early access |
The plans limit different things, so the cheapest row is not the cheapest tool for your account. A bakery that sends 400 DMs a month reads the table differently from a creator sending 20,000.
Which tool fits which need
You only need comment-to-DM and want it cheap
ReplyRush, LinkDM, InstantDM, and CreatorFlow are built for this. Each has a free plan, and the paid plans allow thousands of automated DMs a month. All four send far more DMs per plan than VivaDialog does. ReplyRush’s Comment Auto Reply starts at Lite. LinkDM’s comment auto-reply and reminder DMs start at Pro. If your whole job is “comment a word, get a link”, start with one of these. The flat-rate comparison lists their plans in more detail.
Check two things first. LinkDM’s yearly tab writes its DM limit as “per account / per month” while the monthly tab says “per month”, so confirm which applies. And on the pages we read, none of the four mentioned Threads, Telegram, or email.
You want WhatsApp, SMS, or TikTok messages in the same inbox
This is where ManyChat, respond.io, and Chatfuel pull ahead. ManyChat lists WhatsApp, TikTok, SMS, Telegram, and email depending on the plan. respond.io lists WhatsApp, TikTok, Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, Viber, and SMS. Chatfuel lists Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok, and Website chat. VivaDialog does not support WhatsApp or SMS, and on TikTok it only schedules video posts.
Among the three, respond.io is built for sales and support teams and costs the most: its Growth plan was $199 a month billed monthly, or $159 billed yearly, at 1,000 monthly active contacts. Chatfuel is close to VivaDialog on price, with unlimited contacts and an AI fair-use limit. ManyChat has a visual flow builder with step metrics.
Our own comparison pages have each one in detail: ManyChat, respond.io, and Chatfuel.
You want a bill that does not grow with your audience
ManyChat and respond.io both price by contacts, so a post that brings in a crowd can move you up a plan. The flat-rate tools price by DM volume, and Chatfuel prices flat with unlimited contacts. VivaDialog charges one price per workspace and caps usage with monthly quotas instead. Pay per message vs per contact vs flat pricing works through the three models with numbers.
You want AI replies and a team inbox in the plan
VivaDialog includes AI replies in every plan with a monthly quota, and a unified inbox for Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, plus email from Starter and Telegram from Growth. The AI answers only from the facts you write into the automation. respond.io offers AI Agents from Growth, with credits that grow with your contact tier. InstantDM has an AI agent node, but with your own model key and from its $29.99 plan. On the ReplyRush, LinkDM, and CreatorFlow pages we read, AI replies to customers were not listed.
You want public replies to comments as well as DMs
VivaDialog’s automations can reply to a comment in public and also send one private DM. respond.io’s Auto Private Replies send a DM to people who comment, and when we checked, public replies to comments were not available and the request sat as “under review” on its roadmap. Check the other tools’ pages for public replies before you choose.
Where VivaDialog is the wrong pick
- You need WhatsApp or SMS today.
- You send tens of thousands of automated DMs a month, which the flat-rate tools price more cheaply.
- You want a free plan to start with.
- You want a visual flow canvas on every plan. VivaDialog flows start on Growth.
What does not change between tools
Every tool that connects through Meta’s official API follows the same Meta limits: one private DM per comment, within 7 days of the comment, and replies to DMs inside the 24-hour messaging window. Tools that ask for your Instagram password are a different category; Is Instagram comment automation safe? explains how to tell them apart.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest Instagram DM automation tool?
On the pages we checked, the free plans cost nothing: ReplyRush, LinkDM, CreatorFlow, and InstantDM each have one, and ManyChat’s covers 25 contacts. Among paid plans, ReplyRush’s Lite at $10 a month and InstantDM’s Legend Pro at $12 a month were the lowest of the flat-rate tools. VivaDialog’s Starter is $9 a month.
Which tool is best for Threads?
Of the eight, only VivaDialog listed Threads on the pages we read. Threads has no API for DMs, so no tool can send DMs there; VivaDialog answers replies to your Threads posts, with up to a 5-minute delay.
How current is this comparison?
Each price carries the date in the table. We recheck them before updating this page, and the /vs/ pages show the same dates.
VivaDialog is in early access right now, and participants get the Growth plan free for 30 days. See the pricing page.
